A Catholic bishop was shot and killed in his Los Angeles dwelling about the weekend, in an incident law enforcement are contacting ‘suspicious.’

Authorities reported they responded to David O’Connell’s house in the Hacienda Heights neighborhood at about 1pm Saturday afternoon, the place he was identified with a gunshot wound to his higher torso, and was pronounced lifeless at the scene.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating his death.

O’Connell’s death was very first declared by Jose H Gomez, an archbishop with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who known as his colleague ‘a guy of deep prayer.’

Following the announcement, parishioners collected outside the house O’Connell’s home, where by some were being noticed crossing by themselves as the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation.

‘It broke me and I was frightened to convey to my wife, mainly because my wife beloved him so a lot,’ Johnny Flores explained to ABC 7.

Glendy Perez stated he was ‘a humble soul.

O’Connell was born in Ireland in 1953 and was named an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles by Pope Francis in 2015.
