A Queensland suburb has been plunged into lockdown pursuing a standoff between police and a gunman.
Residents have been informed to remain indoors following listening to shots fired at Kirwan, around Townsville, just in advance of 9pm on Sunday.
Crisis services have issued an emergency declaration with the condition continuing into Monday early morning.
A gentleman has barricaded himself in his household with a shotgun and rifle.

A person woman recalled every person in the region sensation ‘on edge’.
‘I’ve under no circumstances been around a little something like this, it’s a little bit wild,’ she claimed.
‘I am just feeling supportive, everyone is a bit on edge but we are all surrounded close to each individual other and it is calming everyone’s nerves.’
