Russia‘s International Minister Sergei Lavrov will chair the UN Security Council conference in New York in April – despite Moscow being at war with Ukraine.
Moscow said Lavrov will chair the meeting following thirty day period when Russia will keep the rotating presidency of the global body.
‘Another critical celebration of the Russian presidency (of the Safety Council) will be a substantial-degree open up debate on the ‘effective multilateralism via the defence of the concepts of the UN Charter’. This conference will be chaired by Russia’s International Minister Sergei Lavrov,’ ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova explained to a press briefing.
Very last month, Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia reported Moscow was scheduling to maintain a conference of the UN Stability council on what he stated is the ‘real situation’ of Ukrainian little ones deported to Russia.
This is an problem that arrived to the fore following the Global Felony Court’s arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for war crimes related to their abduction.
The courtroom said it was trying to get Putin’s arrest for the reason that he ‘is allegedly liable for the war criminal offense of illegal deportation of (youngsters) and that of unlawful transfer of (kids) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.’
Nebenzia identified as the issue of the children ‘totally overblown’ and stated Moscow needs to make clear at the Safety Council assembly, all over April 6, that they ended up taken to Russia ‘simply for the reason that we desired to spare them of the hazard that armed service routines may perhaps carry.’
Nebenzia was questioned regardless of whether Russia planned on returning the little ones. ‘When problems are risk-free, of study course. Why not?’ the Russian envoy replied.
