A survivor of the Sea Planet helicopter tragedy has explained the terrifying instant two choppers collided and killed four men and women.

Elmarie Steenberg, a New Zealand vacationer, was one of 9 travellers who survived the tragic crash on the Gold Coast on January 2.

Vanessa Tadros, 36, British newlyweds Ron Hughes, 65, and wife Diane, 57, and main pilot Ash Jenkinson, 40, were not so fortuitous and died.

Ms Steenberg has opened up on the horrifying moment she felt like she was likely to die with her explosive account to be aired on 60 Minutes on Sunday night.

She remembered searching down and seeing one more helicopter beneath the one particular carrying her.

Ms Steenberg was riding in the helicopter with her spouse Riaan and Kiwi couple Edward and Marle Stewart.

She reported she braced herself and prayed to God to ‘please aid us’ right before the helicopters collided and a loud explosion followed.

Ms Steenberg hid her face and then opened her eyes, the to start with thing she noticed was blood working from Ms Swart’s entire body.

Then she noticed sea flash earlier as their chopper spun madly.

‘I was like, “Oh, we are going to die today”,’ Ms Steenberg stated.

Ms Swart and Ms Steenberg endured ugly accidents, the worst of anyone in their chopper. 

Each desired surgical procedures to eliminate countless numbers of shards of glass and shattered carbon fibre that experienced lodged in their pores and skin. 

Their helicopter spun two times and its pilot in some way landed on a sandbank. 

But the dread remained when individuals around her shouted ‘It’s likely to blow’.

Appropriate in entrance of them the other helicopter crash-landed with lethal consequences.

Its pilot, Ash Jenkinson, died, together with 3 of passengers British newlyweds Diane and Ronald Hughes, and Sydney mum Vanessa Tadros.

Her 10 calendar year outdated boy Nicholas Tadros survived, but continues to be in medical center. He was so terribly damage he necessary 6 surgeries in just one working day and expended several more times on lifestyle assistance.

The other two survivors from the chopper that crashed, Winnie de Silva, 33, and her son Leon, 9, continue to be in clinic with comprehensive injuries.

The Steenbergs and the Swarts resolved on a whim to check out Sea Environment, then produced an additional snap conclusion, to be a part of a five minute helicopter trip above the concept park.
