Stephen Fry has been accused of creating racist and misogynistic jokes in the course of a cricket evening meal he was hosting at the MCC.
The grievance was manufactured by Marylebone Cricket Club member Chris Waterman, who claimed Fry stated: ‘I had supposed to say, ‘Good night, girls and gentlemen’, but there are no girl customers present. I suppose they are off sh*gging.’
Mr Waterman said the Television host also referred to the Allahakbarries, a cricket crew launched by the creator JM Barrie, and joked: ‘The term ‘Allahu Akbar’, when made use of right now, is usually adopted by a loud bang.’
Nonetheless, other diners and the club in north-west London say the misogynistic joke was misheard and the racist 1 was under no circumstances manufactured.
