Almost nothing is more satisfying for a dog owner than watching their dog playing and socializing with friendly dogs and running around at full speed. It also doesn’t hurt that your dog will get to burn off all that excess energy!

One of the best ways to do all this is to take your dog to an off-leash dog park. If you live in or near Buffalo or are planning a trip there and want to find a good place for your dog to run around, this list of parks is just for you!

The 4 Off-Leash Dog Parks in Buffalo, NY

1. Barkology

🗺️ Address: 📍 4939 Genesee St, Buffalo, NY 14225
🕐 Open Times: Tuesday to Thursday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

  • The only indoor/outdoor dog park that also has a bar for humans

2. Ellicott Island Bark Park

  • Entire island is an off-leash dog park
  • Surrounded by water, so it’s a naturally fenced-in area

  • Parking is available and island is accessible by a footbridge

3. The Bark Park at Black Rock Canal Park

4. The Barkyard at Lasalle Park

5. Hamburg Dog Park

6. Knox Farm State Park Dog Park

  • 6-acre off-leash and fenced dog park

  • Off-leash area is only in the fenced-in spot
  • Dog park is situated inside Knox Farm State Park
  • 400 acres of pastures and 100 acres of ponds and woodlands to explore

7. Lewiston Dog Park

  • Dogs need to be licensed, have an ID collar, and be vaccinated
  • Dogs must be off leash when inside the dog park

10. DeVeaux Woods State Park Dog Park

  • Opened in 2019 as Niagara’s first dog park
  • Double-gated for extra security to prevent dogs from getting out
  • Includes a separate track around the perimeter for dogs that like to run laps
  • Over 1 acre of space for dogs to explore
  • Includes water fountains for dogs, waste stations, benches, and leash holders



Whether you’re looking for a nice park within the city of Buffalo or are in the mood for a road trip to find something on the outskirts, there are many off-leash parks to choose from. It’s easy to tell that Buffalo loves dogs with all the park selections available!

However, be sure to read the park’s rules and regulations first because you don’t want to end up paying a hefty fine. Always bring extra water and poop bags with you so your dog can enjoy their day at the park in comfort.
