The process for such an appointment has been far from easy though, with the north London side missing out on some of their targets.

However, they are expected to ramp up their interest in Celtic boss Postecoglou after this weekend’s Scottish Cup final.

They will take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden Park, and victory for Celtic would see them win the treble.

Spurs have had a number of difficulties in the search to replace Conte.

Julian Nagelsmann, Arne Slot and Luis Enrique have been discussed but all have appeared to rule themselves out of the race, while former manager Mauricio Pochettino has joined Chelsea.

However, Postecoglou could very well be the next man in the hot seat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He took the job at Celtic in 2021 and has since won back-to-back Scottish Premiership and League Cup titles.

Postecoglou has had previous experience in Australia with the men’s national team and A-League side Brisbane Roar.

Spurs have had two interim bosses in charge since Conte left two months ago.

His assistant Cristian Stellini was sacked and replaced with Ryan Mason, who was previously in such a role in 2021.

The north London side, who finished 8th in the Premier League, are now set to appoint their fourth permanent boss since Pochettino left in 2019.
