Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders has stated a prime Graeme Souness would be worth £125million.
His statement comes after Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand insisted he would cost £170m in today’s market.
It led talkSPORT host Sam Matterface to ask Saunders for his thoughts on his former mentor while on the Sports Breakfast show on Monday morning.
To which Saunders said: “Graeme Souness, £125million. He could do everything. The rules have changed, right? A big part of his game was intimidation and he was hard as nails.
“His attitude Graeme, was, ‘everyone is out to get me, so I’m going to get you first.’
“He thought when he went onto the pitch, that every midfield player was out to do him first, so he bucked first, that was his tactic, but the rules have changed now so he’d have to adjust.
“You’d have to say you can’t have contact in midfield, you can’t be late, you’ve got to stay on your feet, so a big part of his game is gone there.
“But ball striking, passing and actual influence on the game £125m.”
