Eden Hazard may retire from football altogether following his departure from Real Madrid.

That’s according to host of the Spanish Football Podcast, Phil Kitromilides, who believes the free agent could hang up his boots for good.

The 32-year-old joined the LaLiga giants in 2019 after a hugely successful spell at Chelsea, but struggled to replicate the same form at the Bernabeu as he did at Stamford Bridge.

“They’re saying he might retire, they’re saying that might be it for Eden Hazard, who joined Real as one of the best players in the world and his career has just fallen off a cliff,” Kitromilides said on White and Jordan when asked what the Spanish reporters believe his next move is.

“There’s a real suggestion that Eden Hazard is going to retire, he’s not going to go anywhere else.

“There was notions that a team in MLS – from Vancouver I think it was – were potentially interested in him.

“But really, I’m not sure what Eden Hazard would want.”

Hazard shone in the Premier League before sealing a dream move to Real Madrid, though injuries curtailed his career in the Spanish capital.

The Athletic had previously reported that ‘retirement is an option’ for the Belgium international, but a decision has not yet been made.

Hazard had recently expressed his desire to remain at the Bernabeu, but departs after four campaigns despite having a year left on his deal.

The former Lille man managed just 22 matches in his first season, though, and was affected by various injuries and knocks.

Hazard, who scored just one goal and assisted seven, would continue to struggle with injuries, especially with muscles and his fibula, in the following campaigns with goal contributions lacking.

Having made just ten appearances in the 2022/23 season, he said his goodbyes to Madrid on Sunday in their 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.
