talkSPORT’s football correspondent Alex Crook joined White and Jordan on talkSPORT to provide an update on the Blues’ managerial search, and said talks have continued on Tuesday morning with an announcement expected soon.

“I’ve not been given any definite timescale, and I don’t think there’s an immediate rush because, either way, the expectation now is that Frank Lampard will see out his role as interim manager until the end of the season.

“Lampard may even assist Pochettino in terms of what he’s walking into, the mindset of the squad, the type of players he has at his disposal.

“But both parties are now keen to get this deal done, and I’ve been told by people close to Chelsea in the last half hour that it will happen – Mauricio Pochettino will be the next Chelsea manager.

“Talks have taken place, they started to ramp up earlier this week and were talking overnight, they’ve been talking again this morning.

“We’re at the stage now where personal terms are being discussed, and Pochettino is making demands now about the backroom team he wants. Jesus Perez is a trusted lieutenant and follows him everywhere, he’ll be coming in and he wants to bring in his own goalkeeper coach, too.

“So there are still details to be ironed out, but there is a willingness from both sides that Mauricio Pochettino will be Chelsea’s new long-term manager.

“And I know the players are excited, they want Pochettino as their new manager.”

Pochettino has been out of work since leaving PSG last summer.

He is best known in the Premier League for managing Tottenham, guiding them to the Champions League final, but ultimately falling short before being sacked in 2019.

Lampard has been in temporary charge since Graham Potter lost his job at the start of April.
