Gervonta Davis reacts as huge Ryan Garcia KO sees Drake win £1.1million bet

Drake kept his combat sports win streak going on Saturday night by betting big on Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia.

‘Tank’ stretched his perfect record to 29-0 when he stopped Garcia with a vicious body shot in round seven of their grudge match in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Drake clearly fancied Davis to emerge victorious from the biggest fight of his career as he bet £800,000 ($1million) on the Baltimore native to get the job done.

The rap star walked away with £1.1m ($1.38m) but his winnings did take a hit as three other bets he placed on Davis failed to come in.

It appears Drake fancied the 28-year-old to close the show early as he placed three separate bets on him to score a knockout in rounds one, two and three which were worth £12,000 ($15,000) each.

Despite three of his four bets failing to cash, the Canadian still made a profit and ‘Tank’ was happy to deliver for him and anyone else who backed him to beat Garcia.

“I need half of that,” Davis joked at his post-fight press conference when asked about Drake betting on him.

“No, it’s pretty cool to have people like that believe in me. It made me push harder and stuff like that. So, shoutout to Drake and the rest of the people that backed me.

“This is only the beginning for me. I have a bright future and I’m staying humble through it all. What can it say? We done it again tonight.”

This is just the latest big win Drake has had betting on fight sports.

The 36-year-old proved that his curse is just a myth by winning over £2m betting on Israel Adesanya to beat Alex Pereira at UFC 287 earlier this month.

In March, he won £1.4m when Jon Jones returned from a three-year MMA absence to win the heavyweight title by beating Ciryl Gane inside one round at UFC 285.

Davis had his own bet on the fight but is not interested in cashing it.

Floyd Mayweather’s protégé and Garcia agreed to a winner takes all wager before their fight but after winning by KO, he showed no interest in doubling his purse.

“Na, he can take the money, he can take the money, he can take it,” Davis said with a grin on his face when asked about his pre-fight bet with Garcia.
