We may have reached peak ‘Bazball’…
Joe Root came to the middle at the start of day four and decided he didn’t need to get his eye in at all.

The England star was facing Australia captain Pat Cummins and went for an audacious reverse ramp on the very first ball.
It was not successful, but it gave the Aussie’s something to think about.
The very next over, he pulled off the same shot twice to brilliant effect.
Fans loved the entertainment on social media. If Bazball has taught us anything… there will never be a dull moment.

Piers Morgan wrote: “Joe Root reverse ramping almost every ball he’s faced this morning is one of the most brilliantly insane things I’ve ever watched. God, I love Bazball.”
One person said: “That was absurd but I’m here for it.”
Another added: “That was wild.”
One wrote on Twitter: “Who plays that shot on a first ball, when team lead is 35 and 2 wickets down!”
Another commented: “Joe Root played a two consecutive reverse lap shot to Scott Boland for six and four. Even Pat Cummins admired the shot and smiled.
“What a fearless cricket played by England and Joe Root – Bazball at his best.”
