'He's dead to me' - Everton fans fume at video of Anthony Gordon after Newcastle win

Everton fans are venting their fury after a video emerged of former player Anthony Gordon wildly celebrating beating them with Newcastle.

Gordon left Goodison Park in the January transfer window in a £45million deal, having graduated from the team’s academy in 2017.

And on Thursday, he faced his old team for the first time, inflicting a hugely damaging 4-1 defeat, leaving the Toffees ever closer to a catastrophic relegation.

A video released by Newcastle has since gone viral, with the 22-year-old forward pumping his fists in the tunnel in jubilant fashion, having played the final three minutes as a substitute.

The now traditional post-match victory photo from the Magpies didn’t help either, with Gordon loving the dressing room squad photo, clearly forgetting about his old side’s troubles.

However, give Gordon was chased down the street by his own fans not long before he left Goodison Park, it’s no surprise he enjoyed the Toon’s win as the Magpies close in on Champions League football.

Aware of raising tensions ahead of a first return to Goodison, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe had earlier publicly warned Gordon against any antics.

When asked pre-match if it was something to be aware of, Howe said: “It’s something we need to be mindful of – yes, definitely.

“But I don’t necessarily know what I can do to change it. You don’t want to have, or do anything, that impacts the team, which is the most important thing.”

Having seemed to keep restrained on the pitch, though, Gordon’s antics off it went down terribly.

One Everton fan wrote on Twitter: “Anthony Gordon you massive rat. Never a blue.”

Another added: “Imagine being that happy about hammering the nails into your boyhood club’s relegation coffin. Gordon is dead to me.”

The defeat left Everton 19th in the Premier League table, without a win in their last six matches and potentially heading towards relegation for the first time since 1954.
