Liverpool made it four wins in a row for the first time this season on Sunday after a dramatic 4-3 victory over Tottenham, to keep alive their unlikely push towards a top four finish.
The Reds raced into a 3-0 lead inside 15 minutes before Tottenham equalised in the 93rd minute, only for Liverpool to run up the other end and score the winner less than a minute later.
Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in fifth place, seven points behind Manchester United, who also have a game in hand.
With just five matches of the season remaining, time is running out for the Reds to chase down the Red Devils’ total, and it looks increasingly likely they’ll have to settle for Europa League football next season.
The Merseyside club haven’t been beaten since the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at the start of last month, and are currently on their best run of form of the season.
Fulham have defied all expectations of them from the start of the season, the newly promoted side were tipped by many to be relegated this season, but are looking on track to secure their first top half finish in the top flight in 11 years.
Marco Silva’s side are currently 10th in the league, five points clear of Crystal Palace directly below them, having also played a game fewer than their London rivals.
The Cottagers had even been right amongst the battle for an unlikely top seven finish and qualification for European football next season, but a recent run of seven defeats in nine matches has put that push on hold.
The recent lack of form has come as a result of lengthy suspensions to two of their most important players in Joao Palhinha and top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is currently six games into his eight match suspension.
Fulham are surprisingly unbeaten against Liverpool in their last three matches, winning on their most recent trip to Anfield back in March 2021.
Three of the six matches between Klopp and Silva’s matches have ended in a draw – the German has two wins to his name while the Portuguese has one.
