Nottingham Forest get their pre-season fixtures underway with a clash against near-neighbours Notts County this weekend.
Steve Cooper’s side are set to make the short trip over Trent Bridge as they begin their preparations for the new Premier League season.
Forest are gearing up for their second campaign in the top-flight having narrowly avoided relegation last term.
They will now renew hostilities with their local rivals for the first time since July 2022, when they played out a 2-2 draw.
Notts County will be back in the Football League next season following their penalty shootout win over Chesterfield in the National League play-off final.
Luke Williams’ men have had a mixed start to their pre-season however, having swept aside Nuneaton Town 3-0 before they were smashed 5-1 by Championship outfit Stoke City.
Notts County vs Nottingham Forest: Date and how to follow
This pre-season clash is set to take place on Saturday, July 15.
Kick-off at Meadow Lane is set for 1pm.
The game is set to be shown live on Forest TV, along with the Tricky Trees’ other pre-season fixtures.
Prices are yet to be confirmed but last year streaming passes were priced at £5 to watch the club’s friendlies with commentary.
Notts County vs Nottingham Forest: Team news
Morgan Gibbs-White won’t be available for the visitors following his heroics in England U21’s Euro triumph last weekend.
The 23-year-old has been granted additional holiday to recover from his gruelling tournament efforts.
In his absence, Emmanuel Dennis will look to make a statement having largely been restricted to a substitutes role in his first year at Forest.
Chris Wood will make his first appearance since his loan from Newcastle was turned into a permanent £15 million move.
Notts County vs Nottingham Forest: What has been said?
Speaking after County’s defeat to Stoke, Williams said: “We got thoroughly beaten by a team that were miles better than us.
“We gifted them goals as well. You can get beat even if you play well because they had too much for us, but if you gift them good opportunities you’re going to get handsomely beaten.
“It’s given us a chance to show the players that, you might be able to get away with certain things against Nuneaton, but you certainly won’t get away with those things against players of this quality.
“If I wanted to win all the pre-season games, I certainly wouldn’t line up Stoke and Nottingham Forest, but we’ve done it so the players can realise that if you want to play at a high level, then you have to cut out the mistakes and if you create chances you have to score.”
