Steven Gerrard extends winless run as Al Ettifaq boss as he closes in on three new signings

Steven Gerrard’s wait for a win goes on after going a third-straight match without a win as Al-Ettifaq manager.

The Liverpool legend led the Saudi Arabian side in a friendly clash against Lokomotiva Zagreb, a clash that they lost 1-0 in Croatia.

That result follows a 2-1 loss against another Croatian side, Varazdin in his opening match and a 1-1 draw against Hungarian side Zalaegerszegi.

Gerrard will be desperate to get his team whipped into shape before the start of the Saudi Pro League next month.

They take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on August 14th but could boast a number of new stars in their side before then.

Jordan Henderson is on the verge of completing a move to Al Ettifaq to join the Liverpool legend.

The current Reds’ skipper is due to sign a £12million deal to join Gerrard in Saudi Arabia in a deal that could be worth £700k-a-week to the Sunderland-born star.

Gerrard is also closing in on a deal to sign defender Jack Baldwin from Club Brugge, while Moussa Dembele is also closing in on a move.

The former Fulham and Celtic striker is a free agent after leaving Lyon at the end of last season, paving the way for a move to the Saudi Pro League.
