Salisbury racing tips

4.10: Embesto 5/2 – 1pt

Regal Reality won this race all the way back in 2020, beating Beat Le Bon by 31/2l as a Cheveley Park-owned horse, now under the ownership of Peter Done, since March 2021.

He’s won twice since then, including the Group 3 Diomed Stakes at the Derby meeting in June.

But at eight-years-old will have to be at his best to fend off a potential up and comer in Embesto, trained by Roger Varian.

Will be given 9lb from the top-weight while the John & Thady Gosden-trained Mighty Ulysses under Oisin Murphy may also be struggling with the weights to the unexposed favourite.

Embesto was just three lengths off of Nostrum last time out and should still be improving as he learns the ropes. Some of the Roaring Lion progeny take a few runs but this horse won his first two in convincing enough style and just bumped into one prominent one.

4.40: Queen Regent 9/4 – 1pt

Queen Regent is a nice contender, and is another Roaring Lion offspring, this time a filly trained by the Gosdens in the colours of Qatar Racing.

She was narrowly beaten on debut at Kempton but stepped up on her second outing in February. Then on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in July placed well behind Value Added.

That form has been boosted nicely enough since and looks of interest on the turf for the first time and gets the required conditions too, especially if settling in quicker.

But it’s got to be down to Truthful settling better, who has the distance form and course form – while also potentially being well weighted after what was a big victory over Shagpyle back in June.

Placed just sixth in listed company last time but this looks a bit easier, again if also settling better.

It’s also concerning to see Value Added, who beat Queen Regent go below her mark with subsequent poor runs.

Wolverhampton racing tips

4.52: Veil Of Shadows 7/2 – 1pt

A nice looking three-year-old filly at a nice price takes the fore here with prominent runs in listed company and in Class 2 novice contest back in May, placing behind Queen For You.

That form has been boosted nicely and a bit of time off for this horse may have worked wonders, especially under the guiding of the top-trainer Charlie Appleby.

As a Frankel filly, has to take a lot of beating and back on the all-weather where she also won her debut could prompt even more improvement in a weaker field.

Windsor racing tips

5.00: Pink Satin 5/1 each-way – 1pt

Likeable two-year-old who is likely to be up there given his two runs so far and drop back to 6f will suit.

Wasn’t that far behind Shuwari last time out who has gone on to boost any form in behind, while beating Painite on debut was also a decent run with subsequent runs.

Could be off a very workable mark here and with a course and distance win already under his belt has to be fancied to be in the first couple past the line.
