City were heavy favourites to win Europe’s elite competition for the first time last year before a startling collapse away to Los Blancos ended their dreams.
Pep Guardiola’s side were cruising through when they faced Madrid at this stage last season before they conceded two late goals on route to a 3-1 defeat at the Bernabeu and elimination.
Madrid went on to beat Liverpool in the final for their 14th Champions League title with City still chasing their first European crown.
