Setting minister Tanya Plibersek has blocked billionaire Clive Palmer’s proposed coal mine in the very first ever use of federal environmental guidelines to reject a coal venture.
Ms Plibersek declared her determination to block the proposed Central Queensland coal mine on Wednesday.
She defined that the mine introduced a large threat of air pollution and environmental injury to the Good Barrier Reef, which is considerably less than 10km from the undertaking.
Mr Palmer’s business, Mineralogy Pty Ltd, experienced submitted an application to create the open cut coal mine.

‘I required to enable you know immediately after a comprehensive assessment of all of the information just before me, I’ve decided to adhere to my determination and I will not be approving the Central Queensland coal venture,’ Ms Plibersek mentioned in her announcement.Â
